About Our Owner...

Mr. H. Wayne Mitchell started in the school bus business in February of 1988 working for Mr. Richard Kent of Kent Bus Sales in Fluker, Louisiana.  Kent Bus Sales was an established Thomas Bus dealership for over 25 years before Mr. Mitchell came on board. In January of 1989,  Wayne became the Thomas dealer for the state of Louisiana and changed the name of the business from Kent Bus Sales to Kent-Mitchell Bus Sales & Service.
  In October  of 2000, Wayne purchased 8 acres of land and moved the business from Fluker to Hammond. On November 1st, 2000 the doors opened on the new facility, which consists of twelve 25’ x 50’ full service bays with a 25’ x 100’ full wash and detail bay.

The family legacy carries on with Dane Mitchell who is the middle son of Wayne and Denise Mitchell.  After graduating from LSU in 2006, Dane came into the business, handling parts and service.  In January of 2015, he moved into his new and current role of General Manager.  While overseeing parts and service, Dane also handles new and used bus sales, leasing and rentals.   

Between the duo of Wayne and Dane, they carry almost 45 years of transportation and school bus experience in the state of Louisiana!
